People of Bali

This series captures a brief glimpse into the people of Bali, Indonesia. My goal was to step outside my usual ways of working and capture the heartbeat of the island through its people. These photos were taken across Ubud, Gianyar, Karangasem, and Kuta. Most of the images in this series were taken with the permission of those portrayed. Everyone I interacted with met me with unbelievable warmth, grounded in community and shared spirituality. Yet alongside that kindness, I saw the land under severe strain-  the painful dichotomy between an island that needs tourism to survive and the environmental cost to make space for it.
